The Triple Door Presents Jill Sobule at The Rabbit Box
Thursday / January 30, 2025 @ 7:30pm
$25 General // $30 Premium : https://tickets.thetripledoor.net/eventperformances.asp?evt=2035
Jill Sobule’s work is at once deeply personal and socially conscious, seriously funny and derisively tragic. In a dozen albums spanning three decades of recording, the Denver-born songwriter/guitarist/singer has tackled such topics as the death penalty, anorexia nervosa, shoplifting, reproduction, the French Resistance, adolescent malaise, LGBTQ issues, and the Christian Right. Her hits include “I Kissed A Girl”—the first openly gay-themed song ever to crack the Billboard Top 20—and the alt-rock anthem “Supermodel” featured in the film “Clueless”. Sobule was one half of The Jill & Julia Show, providing music while actor Julia Sweeney contributes storytelling. Jill is considered a pioneer in crowdfunding and is constantly exploring and creating new models for artists in an ever-changing music industry. Her latest record is “Nostalgia Kills”, produced by Ben Lee and released on her own Pinko Records label. Jill’s theater credits include a musical adaptation of the Broadway classic “Yentl”, “Prozak and the Platypus”, and “Times Square”. Her latest, “F*ck 7th Grade”, was postponed due to Covid, but was performed and filmed for three days at a make-shift drive-in over the Summer. The musical is a finalist for the Lambda Literary awards in LGBTQ Drama category this June.
“Jill Sobule can claim her place among the stellar New York singer-songwriters of the last decade. Topical, funny and more than a little poignant …grown-up music for an adolescent age.”
-New York Times

Mary Lambert is not your typical multi-platinum artist. While studying Music Composition at Cornish College of the Arts, she found a home in the spoken word community of Seattle and began experimenting with infusing poetry into her music, performing frequently as a cellist, singer-songwriter, and poet. Lambert had never released music and was juggling multiple food service jobs when she received a call from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis to collaborate on their marriage equality anthem, “Same Love”. Writing and singing the hook to “Same Love” led to an MTV VMA win and two Grammy nominations: Song of The Year and Album of The Year, and culminated in the iconic 2014 Grammys performance, which featured a mass wedding officiated by Queen Latifah and Lambert’s unforgettable duet with Madonna. After the viral success of releasing a standalone version of the song, “She Keeps Me Warm” Lambert shortly signed to Capitol Records. She released Welcome to the Age of My Body, an EP with a re-release of the Top 20 hit “She Keeps Me Warm” and “Body Love”, a spoken-word piece about body image. Later that year, she debuted her first pop song: a tongue-in-cheek single, “Secrets,” that went RIAA Gold and shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Dance charts, which was followed by her debut full-length album, Heart on My Sleeve. Lambert received the Human Rights Campaign’s Visibility Award, The SAMHSA Special Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for her work on destigmatizing mental illness, and was invited to speak at the UN. She has performed on the Colbert Show, Ellen, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, and the American Music Awards.
Lambert was successful in the eyes of the public; but below the surface, she was struggling with frequent panic attacks and suicidal thoughts. In 2015, she parted ways with formal management and Capitol Records. The desire was to reclaim her independence and to focus her attention on other aspects of her career: poetry, acting, composing, writing, and production. Lambert self-released the joyful indie-pop EP Bold and a self-recorded holiday EP, Happy Holigays under her own label, Tender Heart Records. In 2018, Lambert signed a book deal with Macmillian to release a poetry collection centered around trauma and mental illness called Shame is an Ocean I Swim Across, and she released her sophomore album, Grief Creature, as a complementary work shortly thereafter. Written, produced, and arranged almost entirely by Lambert, the “breaking up with shame” album contains heart-rending adult-pop songs, intense spoken-word tracks, and slick collaborations with musician-friends Macklemore, Julien Baker, Maiah Manser, and Hollis.
Lambert is currently working on a new book and album about body image; co-starring in the Netflix animated musical and series, I ♥ Arlo and Arlo the Alligator Boy; co-hosting The Manic Episodes, a queer and mental health podcast with her spouse, Dr. Wyatt Paige Hermansen; and facilitates a virtual workshop on body image called Everybody is a Babe. Lambert is also the film composer for 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture, a documentary about the mistranslation of the word “homosexual” in the bible. 1946 won the Audience Award at Doc NYC and OutFEST and broke records for the most viewed film in Doc NYC history. She lives between Seattle and Western Massachusetts with her spouse and her two dogs, Turnip and Georgie.

Doors at 6:30pm ~ Show begins at 7:30pm
$20 Advance // $25 Day of : https://tickets.thetripledoor.net/eventperformances.asp?evt=1170
Liz Longley is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter celebrated for her stop-you-in-your-tracks voice and deeply emotional music. Known for her distinctive blend of folk, pop, and Americana, Liz has earned accolades from prestigious songwriting competitions, including the BMI John Lennon Songwriting Scholarship Competition.
Her self-titled debut album was praised as “stunning” (HuffPost) and marked by “cleverness and wit” (Dallas Morning News). The follow-up, Weightless (2016), was lauded as “a thing of beauty” by Pop Dose. Liz’s sixth album, Funeral For My Past, became a notable success after her fans raised over $150,000 on Kickstarter to fund its independent release, making her the #4 most funded solo female musician in Kickstarter history. The album received widespread acclaim, with Forbes calling it “stunning” and Billboard highlighting its diverse range from Americana to shimmering pop anthems.
Becoming a mother in 2022 profoundly impacted Liz’s songwriting, infusing her music with greater depth and perspective. Her upcoming album reflects this new chapter in her life, showcasing both her personal growth and her continued evolution as an artist.
Singer/Songwriter Max Gomez grew up in Taos, New Mexico, where he fell under the influence of country blues early on and developed a songwriting style that was uniquely his. He received critical acclaim upon the release of his debut album Rule The World (2013, New West Records); and his subsequent EP, Me and Joe (2017, Brigadoon Records), contained a freshly minted classic, “Make It Me,” which has gained over 4 million listeners on Spotify alone.
As a budding performer, Max apprenticed in the rarefied musical micro-climate of northern New Mexico, where troubadours like Michael Martin Murphey and Ray Wylie Hubbard helped foster a Western folk sound both cosmic and country.
He has shared billing on hundreds of stages with stalwarts of the genre like James McMurtry, Buddy Miller, John Hiatt, Patty Griffin, Tommy James & The Shondells, Jeff Beck, and Johnny Depp. Judging by the company he keeps, Gomez is poised to emerge as a prominent voice of Americana’s next generation. The forthcoming album, Memory Mountain, will release this summer. https://maxgomezmusic.com/

Masta Killa - Balance Tour
Masta Killa, one of the original members of the iconic Wu-Tang Clan & his DJ are in Seattle on his Balance Tour album release at The Rabbit Box Theatre for one night only!
"My hip hop name was given to me by the Clan. “Master Killer” is actually the name of a Shaw Brothers kung-fu movie. In it, the main character, who is not from Shaolin, studies Kung-Fu at Shaolin to go back and help his people who are oppressed by the government. I’m not actually from Shaolin, I’m from Brooklyn, but I went to Staten Island and learned the Wu-Tang style of rhyming, so my story kind of relates to the Master Killer story. Now, you hear the name ‘Masta Killa’ and it sounds violent, but it simply means to be a master of your craft. Kill doesn’t always mean something negative. When someone does something perfectly we say “He killed it.” That’s all I want to do. Each time I write a lyric or perform I want to be a master of my craft so I can make you to say I killed it." https://open.spotify.com/artist/0ME1RawvWt3qOJnYnxVqeh

Zoser with Brendan Rooph and Tommy Yeehaw
The Rabbit Box is excited for an evening with Loosegroove Recording artist Zoser with special guests, Brendan Rooph and Tommy Yeehaw!
Zoser is a singer/songwriter and music bender whose music has no boundaries. With a soulful voice, thoughtful lyrics, and a guitar, his music shifts seamlessly between pop, hip-hop, R&B, and folk. As an emerging Seattle artist, Zoser began playing guitar when he was just 10-years-old. By the age of 12, he began penning his own lyrics and performing to local audiences in his hometown of Augusta, Georgia. He made his recording debut in 2019 with the EP release “Genesis” followed by the EP “Evolve” in 2020, independently recorded and released. Currently he is working on an album with Loosegroove Records, a Seattle based record label founded by Stone Gossard(of Pearl Jam) and Regan Hagar. Zoser has crafted a sound that is wholly and undeniably his own. The result is something spectacular to behold: a voice that conveys a world-weary ache and a bright optimism, and a sense of musicality that is both rhythmic and infectiously melodic. He is a singer, a storyteller and something of a revelation – not necessarily a soul singer but something rarer and more precious – a singer with soul.

SUPER-KREWE: Seattle’s very own New Orleans styled brass band, comprised of seasoned Seattle based musicians that have been performing together for over 15 years. The ‘Krewe' aims to explore the rhythmic and melodic realms of pocket, groove and space while paying homage to NOLA second line traditions and street performance party vibes reminiscent of late night memories of the French Quarter.
One can expect to hear performances of original music in addition to hand selected covers/standards ranging from early 1920’s traditional jazz to 1960’s soul and funk, modern pop, rock and electronic music. Though their original music is not genre specific, it is heavily rooted in the improvisational traditions of New Orleans music a.k.a. JAZZ. The band platform acts as a melting pot for the ‘Krewe’ to bring together their collective musical ideas, experiences and energy to assemble new and familiar sounds, textures and feelings into music that inspires us all to celebrate the one life that we’ve all got to live. Brittany Davis, a non-binary, blind-since-birth musician/producer originally from Kansas City, Davis released their debut EP for Loosegroove, I Choose to Live, March 2022 . Brittany Davis continues to work as a producer of music and a vessel of sonic sound and should be heard with every fiber of one's being. “Britt’s work with Painted Shield is just scratching the surface of what they are capable of, but if I were to list the two biggest aspects of how they’ve impacted the band, it would be their incredible vocal harmonies and their wicked ear, which allows them to layer color and other musical ideas to existing tracks,” Gossard says. “It’s a high priority for me to have more songwriting from Britt on our next album, and to give them more freedom to create outside the lines. I can’t wait to hear it.” Spin / Jonathan Cohen | April 13, 2023
Zoser is a singer/songwriter and music bender whose music has no boundaries. With a soulful voice, thoughtful lyrics, and a guitar, his music shifts seamlessly between pop, hip-hop, R&B, and folk. The writing is personal, the music idiosyncratic, all to capture the feelings and mood of each song. With influences ranging from Ed Sheeran to Childish Gambino, a simple six-string, and mic, Zoser transforms into a “beat box,” lending percussive bass to funky and melodious rhymes. He made his recording debut in 2019 with the EP release “Genesis” followed by the EP “Evolve” in 2020, independently recorded and released. Zoser is currently the Co-Chair of the Totem Star Leadership Collective, a non-profit music and mentorship program for underserved youths.
Loosegroove Records is a Seattle-based record label created and run by guitarist and songwriter Stone Gossard (Pearl Jam, Painted Shield, BRAD), and drummer/Creative Director Regan Hagar (BRAD, Malfunkshun, Satchel). Distributed through The Orchard, Loosegroove prides itself on its curated and eclectic roster of artists encapsulating a broad range of musical genres. Currently working with alt-rock band Tigercub, singer/songwriter Jonny Polonsky, folksinger Mason Jennings, Painted Shield featuring blind, BIPOC, nonbinary singer, rapper, sound manipulator Brittany Davis, along with new signings, James and the Cold Gun, Zoser, and more.
Loosegroove Records began in the 90s releasing music from Malfunkshun, featuring Regan and the late Andrew Wood, Critters Buggin, Weapon of Choice, and punk band, The Living, which includes Duff McKagan among others. In 1998 they signed Queens of the Stone Age and released the bands' debut album as well as a few successful movie soundtracks and hip-hop compilations before taking down their shingle in 2000. They regrouped again in 2020, with a strong foundation and reputation in artist development and A&R. https://loosegroove.indiemerch.com/

The Esteemed Gentlemen are a power trio featuring Evan Flory-Barnes-bass guitar/vocals, Matt Clough-guitar and Joey Ziegler-drums. The band conveys Flory-Barnes’ original songs with poetic subtlety, intense depth, palpable joy and fiery intensity all within one song, expressing something that is both psychedelic and grounded, experimental yet danceable.
Flory-Barnes' voice is as inspired by classic soul singers like Curtis Mayfield, Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye, as it is by experimental pop artists Björk and Radiohead, as it is by grunge era icons Chris Cornell and Jerry Cantrell. With lyrics touching on self-ownership, hard won self-love, personal sovereignty and the lessons gleaned from relationships with mischievous humor and a philosopher’s heart. His bass playing while incredibly flexible and fluid is deeply rooted in the all-encompassing groove.
Matt Clough, is a singular guitarist, sonically inventive, supremely lyrical and harmonically creative. Clough is equally adept at expressing nuanced restraint and raw passion, crafting beautiful rhythm parts along with tastefully melodic solos that push the creative edge all while being deeply heartfelt.
Joey Ziegler, plays the drums with a soulful precision, sense of groove and feel paired with a sophistication that is equally playful and explorative. With great attention to detail, Ziegler extracts unique colors from the drum set, creating a sonic palette that is incredibly musical and entirely his own, all while doing it with infectious enthusiasm.
