THE LOVE MARKETS are a cabaret rock band inspired by the artists of Weimar Berlin. With roots sunk deep in the Seattle arts scene, these ruffle-clad ruffians have spent the past 15 years making new songs of love and revolution loaded with subversive wit, political bite, rollicking grooves, and intoxicating soul. The band's unique musical alchemy finds ideal expression in singer-songwriter Angie Louise’s evocative, exuberant vocals and adventurous keys; the shape-shifting accordion of Robertson Witmer and trombone wizardry of David Marriott Jr.; Dave Pascal’s funky bass; and Chris Monroe’s sinuous drums.
In 2013, The Love Markets released their debut album World Of Your Dreams, a record that lured its listeners down alleys haunted by pulp heroines and into speakeasies brimming with subversion, and managed the rare trick of following a tender elegy for the dead with a gleefully risque ode to wiener schnitzel. With their second album, Beauty Factory, The Love Markets investigated the relentless machinery of modern life, thumbing their noses at the machine and finding heroes in unlikely places (romance aboard a freak-show caravan; a mild-mannered CPA turned werewolf). This November, The Love Markets will release their long-awaited third record, SHIP OF LIGHT, a vessel carrying songs about longing, risk, power, misadventure, and hope.
