Our vision grew out of a need for a new meeting place after a worldwide pandemic left many people feeling alone and uncertain. We aimed to rebuild our community in a timeless space that celebrates the unwavering spirit of things that endure—hope, optimism, courage, and love. The Rabbit Box was named after one of the 4 books that make up The Rainbow Box by Joseph Pintauro; it is a letter to the world and a whisper of hope to humanity. With that vision in mind, we set out to create a place for all walks, all people, all ages who visit & live in Seattle, where one felt like they could be anywhere in time.

We stepped out of quarantine into an unknown climate for venues, bars, restaurants & the arts. The Rabbit Box is a cozy intimate hub nestled underground in the Corner Market. Being downtown has its challenges. The timeline of our opening although seemingly ideal was unfortunate. Being a new endeavor during the pandemic, younger than two years, and having no history for two years prior, we are ineligible for grants and other city loans and support, we have been riding the wave of inflation, interest rates, insurance, and labor increase. Now in the light of post-pandemic reality, our new venue is struggling. The demographic of our location suffers from the absence of nightlife. We want to change that.

We are seeking to raise funds to help us get through this phase, pay off some of the incurred debts, and give us some time to bring some awareness to our city, its people, and our community and hopefully have a footing for any future decisions needed to keep the space active, add future employees & create more programming.

Goals: extend our hours to morning coffee, special events, membership & collaborations with other organizations interested in keeping Seattle vibrant in the arts.

If you have been to The Rabbit Box, you have seen the love and effort that went into the space and experienced the warmth and energy of its charms. We want to lay the lines for an additional cultural space in our city. We must keep our spaces alive. The discussions are happening but they need to widen.

You can support the venue here, come into the space, buy tickets, have a party, or send loving thoughts. It will be seen. We are working on all cylinders to save yet another venue in trouble.

Sincerely, Robynne Hawthorne & The Rabbit Box
